'Bout Time...
'twould seem that the chickens are slowly coming home to roost for the previous Tory government and their mates over the Covid pandemic shenanigans and subsequent trouser-lining. In this week's Eye we hear again about Ayanda capital's principals pocketing of millions whilst still insisting "...nothing to see here..." At least the owner of this egregious pile of avaricious 'commerce' has now been arrested: it remains now to make some of the shit stick to him and the many others involved in fraternally-connected enterprises at that time. Also, the Hallett report on the then government's activities in response to the pandemic has been scathing: a not unwelcome reflection I would have thought, of the views of millions of people in the UK deeply affected by the Tories inability to focus on the job at hand, rather than the fast bucks on offer in exploitation of what was, after all, the black-marketeers' opportunity of a lifetime. Let's hope that some of the buggers do some well-deserved time, their activities at least as treasonable as the execrable Nathan Gill's connection with Putin's regime. He was lucky to get away with ten-and-a-half years jail time. Seventy years ago he would have been strung up for it. It's to be hoped that accountability and some semblance of the rule of proper law and consensus is starting to return to calm the maelstrom of political, ideoogical and economic chaos that has been the last fifteen or so years of our lives. Not before time, methinks. Meanwhile, chaos reigns in the Ashes, down under: nineteen wickets on the first day of a five day Test? Bloody hell...

Here's me thinking that the PE typeface "upsetteth you too much"!
ReplyDeleteSadly having read PE for going on 60 years it's all TOO familiar and repetative: society "steered" by the avaricious and stupid with no moral compass. Expecting a change is a waste of brian-cells mate! This IS what we are, sadly! Root & Branch revolution brothers & sisters!
